Dear Fellow Fish Friends

I am in Xian (陝西) right now, using the notebook from my colleagues, so I can't type Chinese but cut and paste Chinese characters only, sorry for using English to share with you.

I am travelling to China as part of a HK Christian Charity team (華恩基金會 and 角聲佈道團) checking out new potential project site for 第三個特困兒童村. At the time of earthquake, I just finished checking out a location at Guizhou, and is about to fly to Xian, the flight was delayed so I was stucked at Guizhou for half a day at that time, while I was complain about the frequent delay at airport, the news about earthquake come in. I really praise God for that as I am completely safe when I am waiting at the airport at Guizhou. My next stop is Xian and if everything is on schedule, I'll arrive at Xian just hour before the earthquake. I arrived Xion on 12日 at around 8pm, I was told that several old buildings were collapsed in Xion, and there were small amount of casualty involved.

I feel so differently about this earthquake when compare to other major natural disaster simply because I am in the middle of them, just like the 911 when I was less then 100 miles away from New York. I really feel the cry of the people here, and knowing that 只一瞬間，一座美麗的山中小鎮消失了，周圍的房屋幾乎全部被夷為平地 and this is just a few hundred miles away from you, it really is a heartbreaking thing and pardon me for unable to express this very well in wording.

I hereby urge all fellow fish-friends to donate what they can to the really needed people that was seriously hurted by the earthquake. Please do what you can while you can, once you are that close to the disaster, you konw how helpless we are when we run into instance like this.

I'll continue my trip and meet with government officers in Xion today, hopefuly I'll travel back to Hong Kong tomorrow evening and back to work on Friday, looking forwards to talking to you all again.

今日為止, 香港已募集了五億以上, 政府佔三億半, 而募款亦增加中.

山可以移走, 但移不走賑災的决心.
水可以隔開, 但隔不開人民的情誼.

Feel bad about all the news of natural disaster in past two weeks, I truely feel thankful to God for sparing me from all these coz I living in such a safe and wealthy place in HK.

And it remind me that we're simply lucky to have a job and can earn what we need for daily living. Lets' save the $$$ we usuall spend on non-critical items to our living and share with those in needed.

Just back to hotel after all the meeting with local officers, I just can't move away from the TV checking out the updates.

The latest dead toll reported in local TV was 14,8xx, but this is just the tip of the iceburg only, this casualty figure didn't include Man Chuan - the heart of the earthquake attack. They still can't access to Man Chuan right now, all the roads are blocked and damaged, they start to drop off rescue resources and special military team to Man Chuan but still no dead toll figure were reported, Wan Ka Po has issues a direct order to devote all possible resource to dig out a road to Man Chuan by 11pm tonight but apparantly they failed to meet that deadline at this stageonce they have the initial figures from Man Chuan, expect to see a big rise in the death toll suddenly. Man Chuan area is still raining right now, this is making the rescue even more dangerous and difficult, land sliding is seriously, and mud + water flood into the holes of the collapsed building, kiling the people who were waiting for rescue. If the rainfall didn't stop immediately, the casualty will definitely increase expotentiallyMan Chuan population is round about 100,000, and they estimated that the casulty will at least be 50% of the population in the district. I think this is an optimistic estimation only, butI do not want to make any guess right now, it really is heart breaking even just think about that.

Once again, I plead that all of you will continue to motivite all your friends and relatives to contribute in rescue donation, even the smallest contribution will help as the need is larger then anyone can expect. I understand HK has started massive fund raising activities already, I plead to all the fishfriend again to contribute as much as you can. If you have excessive gears or plants of fishes, try to 義賣 them immediately and donate the money. This might sound too little, but if this is what you can contribute, do that now, it does help.

昨天回來了，本來想立刻和大家分自已過去幾日的經歷，無耐離開工作岡位成個星期，所以遲遲未能定下來將心中所想的打出來，實在十分抱歉。

以往幾日的遭遇實在是觸動每個人的內心深處。我是一個基督徒，所以分享時難免涉及從信仰角度的反思，希望大家明白和不會介意。

話說我在 13-15 日放了 3 天假，連同之前的幾日公眾假期，到中國作了一個 6 天的短 trip. 今次回國是代表華恩基金會到貴州六盤水市和陜西西安市X泉縣視察兩個兒童村(孤兒院)項目的可行性。華恩基金會是一個基督教慈善團體主力於國內的扶貧和兒童善工，現已和美國的角聲佈道團在國內合辨了 2 所兒童村。我曾是他們的第一任兒童村項目主任，曾用了一年時間完成了國內第一所由僑胞獨立建造和營運的兒童村，所以現在仍是他們的兒童村董事和硬件配套的顧問。

行程第一部份是分頭工作的。華恩基金會的3 位同工到貴州視察，而角聲的同工則在北京和中國紅十字會協商長遠的扶貧賑災合作。12 日早上我們順利完成了貴州的行程後，原定在 12 日下午 1 時由貴陽乘機到西安，約下午 2 時到達。在中午到達貴陽機場後，得知航班會延誤 5 小時，大家正不是味兒，所以決定在 check in 後乘巴士到貴陽市 (約 20 分鐘車程，是國內其中一個離市區最近的機場)午膳和行書局 (慣常的本地資料搜集活動)。在約 4:30pm 回程時，才從電台廣播中得知四川發生了大地震，並從的士司機口中知貴陽也有震感，較高層數的樓房出現吊燈搖晃，在候機室中看到電視廣播才知事態極之嚴重，亦是第一次聽到汶川的名字，但仍未有死亡數字公佈。晚上 8 時許到達咸陽 (與西安毗鄰) 的某個華恩支援的事工點，才知道在汶川數百里外西安和咸陽也受地震影響塌了幾座舊樓和有人傷亡 (後來才知道陜西有過百人死亡，千餘人受傷)，這時才知道原來航機延誤反而令我們逃過一劫，幾位同工連隨同聲感謝神。到 13 日中午和角聲佈道團的同工會合，大家都同聲為神保守而滿心的感謝，並知道在地震時他們正和中國紅十字會開會中，突然會議室的吊燈開始搖動，然後傳來震感。不久後他們便道發生了重大地震，於是長話短說，角聲立刻承擔向海外華人基督徒籌慕一百萬賑災，而中國紅十字會亦忙於籌備救災行動。

其實今次是自己第二次和重大災難事故擦身而過。當年 911 事發時我正身在美國，在 9 月 10 日到達紐約，並於晚上乘火車到 New Haven ( 離紐約 65 里) 逗留約一星期。 911 襲擊時我正 New Haven 開會，之後因美國停止了所有航機服務而滯留在 New Haven 兩星期。雖然今次和災場的距離遠超過 65 里，但血濃於水，感覺卻比上次強烈百倍。之後我在西安的數日，與地方官員開完會或探完路後，回酒店的第一件事便是開電視查看災情。雖然今次內地採取極開放的態度發放消息，但我相信你們在香港能收到的數據比我多。當地的報紙和電視臺會較多零碎的真人真事片斷，有勵志的，也有令人斷腸的。在 14 號約 11 時我首次見到死亡數字的明細表，原來當時公佈的 14,8xx 人死亡數字中，仍未計算震央汶川縣的數據。當時死亡人數最多的是綿陽市約 7,9xx 人。在地震後的數天都在下雨和發生餘震，雨水將泥沙沖入瓦礫中，再加上幾座堤壩受地震所破壞，令被壓在瓦礫下的災民倍添風險。汶川縣的人口約為 10 萬人，當時估計存活率可能不及 50%，重點受災的三個鎮映秀鎮、漩口鎮和臥龍鄉更可能是十不存一，所以最終的傷亡數字會增到幾多真是想起也不寒而慄。

在時間上汶川大地震亦是奇妙無比的。在最近一個月的聖火傳遞中我們見到全球華人有史以來最團結地走在一起，轉眼間便見到中國人面對有史以來最大的天然災難。

每當有重大災害時，人都會質問愛人的神為什麼讓這些事情發生。雖然我推崇理性分析和從科舉辯証中突破自己的框框，但在這個時刻我卻並不想和大家研討這些問題。我見到的，只是人到了如斯地步，隊除了求告神外，實在是作不了什麼。我見到近代中國最強的總理溫家寶，在地震後個多小時便到達四川現場指揮，我認為他作的比世上任何一個領袖都更出色，亦真正的幫助到一些需要的人，但我亦相信當他踏足災場，見到連綿不絕的頹垣敗瓦，他也只會震撼於人的渺小和無助。作為信神的人，我相信大家都明白在神的作為下，人算不得什麼。我們能有今日，也只是祂的無原因無要求下的特別眷顧。人，算是什麼呢？

雖然和汶川的災難擦身而過，雖然汶川可能會在地圖上消失，連憑吊的機會也沒有，但只要還有存留的人，便有援手的機會。在此謹請大家如你是極幸運地可以在救災或重建工作上出力的話，請不要猶疑，施比受更為有福，你應知道有千萬人正羨慕你能有此福份。否則的話，我建議大能因應自已的能力而作出金錢上的支援。

我响電視中見到愛國愛民嘅溫總，連續幾日於災場視察、鼓勵救援人員同安慰受難者，老淚縱橫，自己個心都有啲酸！

希望我哋呢啲生在福中不知福嘅可憐香港人，有能力一定要幫助災民。不但要捐錢，最好能夠節儉一啲，為我哋唯一可生活、生存嘅地球出一分力！

台灣地震後要七年先可以復原，大家响最少呢七年一定要繼續支援。
